Clubs & Organizations Consent
Due to a new state law passed in 2023, no school shall allow a student under the age of 18 to become a member of a club or organization without the parent or guardian's consent. Therefore, all Arlington Middle School parents/guardians wishing for their child to join a club or organization must complete this form prior to their student joining.

Agriculture/Environmental Club
Cost: The fee for our program is $20 per student and is payable to the school. The students will have the opportunity to purchase a club t-shirt.
Arlington Middle School sponsors an agricultural/environmental club. Our mission is to foster appreciation, education and stewardship of plants through garden displays on campus. We exist to assist young people in acquiring knowledge, to raise awareness about environmental issues and to reduce environmental impact as individuals, the school community, and as citizens of the world. Our mission is accomplished through “hands on” learning experiences, focused on agricultural and environmental issues, agricultural awareness, foods and nutrition, health, energy conservation, and citizenship. This school year we will be hosting the West Tennessee Iris Society.

Art Club Semester 1
Cost: There is a $20.00 fee for art supplies used for club activities.
The Arlington Middle School Art Club offers painting and drawing technique lessons not covered in the regular classes. Students will also be introduced to ceramics and other crafts. The Art Club is open to all grades 6th-8th grades. The Club meets on Tuesday mornings during the first semester only from 7:45-8:45.

Art Club Semester 2

Who : For students interested in creating additional artworks and building their portfolio.
When : Thursdays from 4 - 5:30. (2nd semester only)

The Art Club is open to all grades 6th-8th grades. Mr. Mcdougal is the art club sponsor for the second semester (Jan - TCAP Testing).

Best Buddies
Beta Club
Cost: Each member must pay a one-time $24 national induction fee prior to induction.
The National Junior Beta Club is an honor organization that recognizes outstanding academic achievement, promotes strong moral character and social responsibility, encourages service to others, fosters leadership skills, and provides settings for students to develop strong interpersonal skills. Students must meet the following requirements to be considered for membership:
Students taking all Standard classes who have earned an overall Semester 1 average of 95 or taking one or more enriched or high school class who have earned an overall Semester 1 average of 93.(Conduct must be all E’s and/or S’s.)
Additionally, each nominee must accumulate 10 hours of community service prior to the application deadline.
Homeroom teachers will nominate students in January and invitations will be sent in February.
Once acceptance letter has been received, students must do the following:
Members must maintain grades (All Standard classes average of 95 or taking one or more enriched or high school class average of 93.) and complete a minimum of 10 hours of community service per year in order to remain in good standing.

Big Brothers & Big Sisters Mentoring Program
Requirements: Students selected as a Big Brothers/Big Sisters must maintain high academic and behavioral standards as they will be required to miss class time to fulfill their mentor duties. All mentors must attend one meeting per semester that will take place before school from 7:45-8:30 am. Space is limited in this mentoring program. A maximum of 15 Big Brothers/Big Sisters will be selected.

The Big Brothers/Big Sisters Mentoring Program is open to all 7th and 8th grade students. Big Brothers/Big Sisters are representatives of Arlington Middle School and serve as mentors for 6th grade students. Big Brothers/ Big Sisters provide academic and social/emotional support to 6th grade students. The mentors will provide support for 6th graders needing assistance with adjusting to middle school. Some examples include: keeping track of homework assignments/quizzes/tests/projects, provide extra supports with organization, time management and study skills.

Book Worms Club
Cost: FREE
The purpose of this club is to give students a place to read and encourage them to share books they love with other students. These students would come in Tuesday mornings at 8:00 to sit in the fun seating areas of the library and read books. These students will not only read books of their choosing, but also books that the librarian and other students suggest. Students will have the opportunity to share about books they have loved reading. This club is open to 6th-8th grade, and will only be accepting no more than 24 students.

Bookshelf Club
Cost: FREE
The purpose of the club is to give students the opportunity to earn service hours while helping keep the AMS library clean and the books in order. Students will come to the library at 8:00 AM on Wednesday mornings to clean the bookshelves, to deliver books that have been put on hold, to shelve books that have been returned, and to make sure the books on the shelves are in order. This club is open to 6th-8th grade, and will only be accepting 10 students.

Builders Club
Cost: $20
If you are interested in giving back to your school and community, then the Builders Club is for you. The Builders Club is a student-led service organization sponsored by Kiwanis International. The AMS Builders Club is composed of students dedicated to school and community service. Our club will conduct various projects before and after school, and possibly a few weekends throughout the year. We expect our members to be good representatives of Arlington Middle School wherever they go. It is a great opportunity to gain leadership experience and get involved!

Chess Club
Drama
Cost: AMS Drama Club fee is $40, payable to the school. Fees are collected from casted students who choose to commit to the production.
Additional Items: Depending on the performance for the year and the role cast, students may be responsible for providing their own costumes.
Each year, usually in February, the AMS Drama Club presents a junior version of a Broadway musical. Students sing, act, and dance to bring this production to life on our AMS stage. Students involved in theatre learn self-confidence, perseverance, cooperation, collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills - while having fun along the way. We start each year in September. We meet each Tuesday at 7:35 am, before school. Students can join us, commitment-free, for the first few weeks. Auditions follow during the free weeks. After auditions, the cast list is announced. A full calendar of all practices is given to the cast to help students and parents plan the level of commitment needed for their casted role. All scripts, music, and dance routines will be given for practice and memorization. AMS Drama Club members are expected to shine at AMS both on and off the stage.

Educational Leaders of Tomorrow
Requirements: ALL ELT’s must maintain high academic and behavioral standards.
Cost: FREE
All grade level students can apply to be an Educational Leader of Tomorrow (ELT), but these students MUST take PE in order to participate. Students selected to participate in ELT’s will be required to miss one day of PE each week. ELT’s are students who volunteer service to AMS. These students serve year round doing a variety of essential jobs that help the school run efficiently. ELT’s may be assigned to an individual teacher to assist with filing, bulletin boards, etc. Some ELT’s serve as errand runners and hall monitors.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes
First Lego League
Requirements: Must know block coding
Cost: $30
Discover the world of innovation and teamwork with FIRST LEGO League! This exciting program engages young minds in hands-on robotics challenges, where participants aged 9-16 build and program robots using LEGO® technology. Guided by real-world themes, teams collaborate to solve problems and compete in regional events. With a focus on creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration, FIRST LEGO League nurtures the next generation of innovators. Join our journey for and unlock a universe of learning and fun!

French Club
Cost: FREE
Arlington Middle School offers a weekly French club. Students will practice simple conversational skills and learn about Francophone culture. No experience with the language is required. All French club members are expected to follow AMS expectations for behavior. Club meetings will be held Friday mornings at 7:45.
Military Kids
Requirements: Military Kids Club is open to all students whose parent(s) are active or retired military.
Cost: FREE
Military Kids club members are representatives of the military student body and act as peer supporters to military student(s) at AMS. Military Kids club members provide support to other military student(s) as they transition, adjust and connect to their new school and community. Military Kids club members assist with coordination and implementation of activities, projects and events that support military students and their families. All Military Kids club members must participate in at least one support activity or event during the school year: a monthly meeting support activity, Holiday Heroes, Veterans’ Day program, Purple Up and or a Farewell Send off for students moving away to family reassignments. Military Kids club meets once a month on the 3rd Friday of the month from 7:45 am to 8:30 a.m. Members must attend at least 4 of the 8 monthly meetings. Membership is open enrollment all school year.

National Junior Honors Society
Cost: $20 membership fee
The National Junior Honor Society is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding 7th and 8th students. Students must meet the following requirements to be considered for membership: Scholarship: 7th and 8th grade students taking standard courses, who have earned an Academic average of 96.000 (unrounded) in all classes for the first semester(PE and Art Averaged). 7th and 8th grade students taking any honors or enriched classes, who have earned an Academic average of 95.000 (unrounded) in all classes for the first semester(PE and Art Averaged). During the spring semester, any student meeting the above criteria will automatically be nominated for membership by their homeroom teacher. Students will be notified of their nomination in February and will be invited to apply for membership.

Student Council
Cost: $30

Technology Student Association
Cost: The fee for membership is $55 payable to the school. This fee includes local chapter, regional, and national dues, a t-shirt, and practice materials. In addition to the membership fees, participants will be responsible for the cost of transportation, food, and other cost required to attend regional, state, and national competitions.
The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national student organization created to develop skills in science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM), and business education. TSA aims to develop leadership, academic, and business management skills in the workplace among students and leaders within the community. TSA offers 37 middle school competitions.

Tiger Ambassadors
Requirements: Students selected as Ambassadors must maintain high academic and behavioral standards, as they will be required to miss class time to fulfill Ambassador duties. Ambassadors must also attend monthly meetings that take place before school from 7:45-8:30am.
Cost: FREE
All grade level students can apply to be an AMS Tiger Ambassador. Ambassadors are student representatives of Arlington Middle School. They provide tours to new students and their families, assist with the annual 8th Grade Career Day, participate in at least one school service project, give tours during the end of year New Student Orientation, and provide assistance to their school as needed.

VEX Robotics
Cost: Students that are selected for the team will pay a $60 fee for a team t-shirt and competition fees.
The Vex Robotics Competitive Team engages students in the world of robotics and engineering. Designed to inspire creativity and problem-solving skills, the VEX Robotics Competitive Team offers students the opportunity to design, build, and program their own robots to complete challenges. Through participation in VEX competitions, students will develop technical expertise, teamwork, critical thinking, and communication skills. VEX Robotics helps to nurture the next generation of engineers, programmers, and inventors by fostering hands-on, experiential learning in the field of robotics and technology.

Yearbook
Cost: FREE
The purpose of the AMS Yearbook is to serve as a historical record of the academic school year. The Yearbook provides a sense of pride among students and staff and functions as an instrument for community awareness, as well as a public relations tool. The Yearbook Staff consists of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students who possess talent in writing, design, and photography. All AMS Tiger are encouraged to apply for the AMS Yearbook Staff. Applications will be available to students after Labor Day.
