AMS Lady Tiger volleyball players playing in tournamentVarsity: The AMS Lady Tigers scrapped all weekend at the district volleyball tournament at Collierville Middle and High School, beginning on Friday night with an impressive 3-set, comeback victory over a feisty Elmore Park team. The Lady Tigers began Saturday with a two-set loss to Houston, before playing back-back matches and beating Bon Lin and Elmore Park again, before succumbing to Houston again in the semifinals, finishing 3rd in the tournament. These Lady Tigers are to be commended for their heart, their dedication, and their hard work this season. The Lady Tigers were led by the miraculously creative setting of 8th Grade Captain Kayleigh Ryan, along w/ the relentlessly accurate hitting by 8th Grader Graci Harris. 8th grader and 3-year Tiger Hannah McGee was impressive with her tenacious serves and consistent middle hitting, and fellow- 3-year Tiger, Zoe Torian also led the Lady Tigers with her incredible net-skimming aces and front-row play. 8th Grade middle hitters Addie Graham and Abbie Keeton provided extra security at the net, and 3-year Tiger Camryn Harrison provided consistent digs and front row play. 7th grade setter, Kenzie Walker continued to impress with her serves and her setting abilities, while Sophie Rush and Karlin Lott were all over the back row diving for dig after dig. No doubt, the Lady Tigers left it all on the floor at the end of the tournament. Congrats to this hard-working group of young ladies on a successful season (16-8 overall). Go Tigers!

If you missed seeing the Varsity Lady Tigers in action this season, you can catch them one more time as they will face the AMS teachers in a fundraiser game hosted by PTSA on Thursday, October 10th after school from 4-5:30 PM. Tickets will be $5. PTSA will share more info soon.

JV-Blue: The AMS JV-Blue volleyball team concluded their season this weekend in the JV-tournament with a win over Millington in two sets, and a tough loss against top-seeded Elmore Park in two sets, with the first set being so close at 23-25. The Lady Tigers were led by 6th grader Ashley Price’s strong serving in the first set, along w/ Tatum Bittick’s eight aces! Zoe McDaniel was a force to reckon with on the net with kills and tips, as well as MaKyla Rice, and Rachel Ross. Savannah Miller also provided the Lady Tigers with tough serving and aggressive net play. Back row players Hanna Garry, Ashlynn Mitchell and Ashley Martindale provided consistent passes to the setter, and Myla Scott and Tatum Bittick set McDaniel and other front row hitters solidly. Ryan Wallgren was also consistent with her serve and defensive play. These Lady Tigers are to be commended for their strong team work, dedication, and hard work this season (8-10 overall). Go Tigers!
