Lady Tiger Soccer Players While many fashionistas may frown upon wearing white the day after Labor Day, the Arlington Middle School Lady Tigers Soccer Team donned their all white uniforms, the requisite attire for the visiting team, and for the first time ever, sojourned the 4 short miles down Route 70 to face off against the always dangerous Lady Lions of Lakeland Middle Preparatory School.

Lakeland Prep was hungry, seeking to avenge a 1-0 loss to your Lady Tigers just 8 days ago and was fresh off of defeating powerful West Collierville 4-2, this past Thursday. Yet the all-white uniform combination proved to be the fashion choice du jour as the AMS ladies were victorious by the score of 2-1. Sophia Rush, continuing her goal scoring spree, opened the scoring late in the first half, taking a dexterous pass from Hayley Patrick and depositing it into the back of the LMPS goal. Lillie Rogers kept a clean sheet for the visitors in the first half, before giving way to Gabbey Ayers in the 2nd half.

Lakeland evened the score at one a piece a few minutes into the second half, and for a fleeting moment must have thought that they had seized the momentum in the contest, but alas, this day belonged to the white clad Lady Tigers, for just a few ticks of the clock later, Madeline Carter found herself steps ahead of the Lakeland defense, onside, with only the goalkeeper to beat, and with perfect placement, notched the decisive goal for AMS. The victory would not have been secured if not for the selfless work ethic of Claire Walker and Isabel Luna, who were asked to temporarily move from their usual positions to the back line, while Macy Cook, Bella Mendieta, Lydia English, Madison Rutherford, Izzy Ellis, Jordyn Hensley, Caroline McCaslin, Norah Cook, Sadi English and Bella Harrell all played critical roles in the victory. The Arlington Middle School Lady Tigers will next take the field at home, this Thursday against Milington at 4:30 p.m.
